Find the Balance in your yoga practice

Do you have a balanced yoga practice?

There is so much more to practicing yoga than the physical side of strengthening and becoming more flexible. Yes these are two important qualities, but very superficial ones when you start to delve into the depths of the yogic path.

The quality of mind that you bring into your yoga practice is of utmost importance and when you practice mindfully you begin to realise that the majority of your limitations are in the mind, not the body.
It is a lot harder to keep your focus on one point – the breath, so when you are constantly reminding yourself to stay focused, the mind becomes tired and loses stamina rather than the body.
This is where the importance of ‘Balance’ comes into play. The balance between control and surrender, pushing and relaxing, channeling energy and letting go.
If your tendency is to push then use your practice to let go and really allow yourself to explore the depths of the stretch, if your tendency is to let go then push and enjoy the physical and mental challenge of the process.
